The Clinical Education Model

Paladin Academy uses a structured clinical education model to meet the needs of students throughout their educational development, from admission through to completion or graduation.

The model has five critical components:

Intake: Evaluate the prospective student
Recommendation: Determine the best learning environment
Parent Communication: Inform parents & obtain input
Plan for Learning Success: Create an Individual Program Plan (IPP)
Ongoing Evaluation: Reevaluate at regular intervals

The clinical educational model is used to determine if the Paladin program will meet a student's needs and if so, what the correct placement within the Paladin continuum should be. Upon enrollment and needs assessment review, an IPP is developed to address the specific educational needs of the student. This document includes a student profile, annual goals, short-term objectives and assessment criteria.

The student's progress is assessed both formally and informally on an ongoing basis. A formal written assessment of the student's progress happens twice per year: at the start of each academic year to establish baseline data and at the end of the school year to assess student progress. Assessments include formal review of student work, standardized tests, checklists and observations by teachers.
