Paladin Academy is a private, non-sectarian and co-educational, college-preparatory learning environment for talented students with mild learning challenges. Designed for children who hold an average to above average intelligence, the program seeks to provide a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum for those requiring more individualized instruction. Course standards follow those of the State of Florida and Every Student Succeeds Act when preparing a child for college and the workforce. Serving Kindergarten through Grade 12, many of our students have been diagnosed with attention deficit, dyslexia, autism, anxiety, or simply require a smaller classroom environment to be successful.
With an initial focus on individualized clinical support for children, the program was founded by Dr. Deborah Levy in 1978 and was originally known as the Developmental Resource Center (DRC). Since inception, Paladin Academy has utilized a multi-sensory instructional approach designed to help students grow and learn at all academic levels. The name Paladin Academy comes from the word paladin which, in medieval times, was a soldier dressed as a knight who wanted to rid the world of evil. At Paladin Academy, we say, “We are Warriors for Peace and Kindness!” The feeling of care and support fills the school community.
Located in the City of Hollywood for nearly 25 years, Paladin Academy relocated to western Broward County in 2008. During the 2011-2012 academic year, our school community moved once again to our current 4 ½ acre campus in the City of Pembroke Pines. Our school building is set on 4.5 acres that includes, a soccer field, pool and pool house, basketball and volleyball courts, covered picnic area, circuit training course, vegetable/herb garden, and the view of a wildlife area.
Paladin Academy is an accredited institution originally certified under the Commission on International Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA SACS). The school is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS CASI), a division of AdvancED now known as Cognia.
The school year 2020-2021 marks our re-accreditation year. We invite all stakeholders to be a part of our continuous improvement journey so that we can continue our mission of being the best school for each of our students all of the time.
